New Arrivals Round Up 7/19/19

Release Date: Friday, July 19th

New Brushed Polyester Prints!

See what our talented sewists were inspired to make!

Are you down with the DBP?

DBP stands for double brushed polyester. You might also hear SBP for single brushed polyester. The double and single refers to whether it's treated with "brushing" on one or both sides. The brushing process makes it soft rather than slick.

If you've never felt brushed poly in real life... well you probably have! It's become really popular with ready to wear leggings, especially some famous multi-level marketing/direct sales apparel companies if you roe what I mean.

Brushed polyester is a polyester fabric with four way stretch and good recovery. It also has great drape. This is why it's such a favorite! It's great for leggings, dresses, tops, you name it! You can find them all in the "brushed" collection.

Still want to know more about the different fabric bases? Amelia Lane Designs created this handy info sheet to help understand all the fabric bases!

NEW BRUSHED POLY PRINTS!

Jan used the new Harmony DBP to make a George & Ginger With Care Dress. George and Ginger donated all of the proceeds from the weekend release to the non-profit National Alliance on Mental Illness. NAMI is the foundation for hundreds of NAMI State Organizations, NAMI Affiliates and volunteer leaders who work in local communities to raise awareness and provide essential and free education, advocacy and support group programs. The release sale is over but you can still make a donation!

Laura made the Love Notions Summer Basic Tank dress (Laura's affiliate link) for herself and her sister. Their sister matching is just the best!

Kendel made a Jessie top by 5oo4 patterns with her Harmony DBP fabric! I love the purple details!

I've come to expect that Kelle will surprise me every New Arrival Round up! She has introduced me to so many new patterns already, I love the variety of her sews she inspires with! Check out this Harmony DBP Modkid Steffi Skort (and I know she reads the blog, which makes it worth writing! even to have one reader! Thanks Kelle!)

Jan has got places to go and people to impress in this dress! People like me! I'm impressed and I think I need this dress. I think the Made by Runi - Date Dress is taking over the ALD Facebook Group. This is the new Dulce DBP print! It's gooorrrgeous! #BeLikeJan

I'm going to be honest right now. Dulce is the print I was least excited about out of the four I ordered.... but it turned out to be my favorite! Don't tell Whitney I said that! But it is! I wore it with my knee high brown boots and felt so stylish and plus so ready for Fall! I used the Annelaine Charleston dress pattern! #affiliate

I heard the greatest story from Florence about this Dulce fabric! She had planned to make herself a dress, but while she was at work her fabric mail arrived, her daughter opened it and cut out her own dress pattern because she was determined to have the fabric! I don't blame her! and I'm glad Florence was able to make herself something with the remaining fabric because these mother/daughter matching outfits are just the sweetest thing! *sigh*

Lakeisha is on vacation right now - and this Lola fabric 5oo4 Jessie Dress made the suitcase cut! How fun and summery is this make? I hope you're having a great time!

Brittanie's stylish little is really into bell bottoms right now! How great must it be to be able to decide exactly what you want in your wardrobe and have it made for you! This 60's inspired outfit is just everything!

Kendel made the Nashville Dress from Annelaine in the Lola DBP. Check out these shoes too! So much carefree and happy happening right now! Fabric is magic!

Kendel also made the Peek-a-Boo Patterns Tiny Tank for her twins in the Katy DBP print with the cutest little solid mustard DBP flutters and knotty headbands! This photo. Can you believe we actually know them in real internet life?

Shakita is back! Also showing off the Katy DBP print in this Ellie and Mac Be Confident !

Such intricate detail work, but so worth it! Kelle made the Kyra Tank Dress by Modkid (affiliate).

Brittanie also has an eye for Katy DBP with solid mustard DBP! She made these cute Drawstring Leggings from Brindle & Twig and the free knotted headband from Rain City with the Katy DBP print.

She also used the solid mustard for a Be Confident top from Ellie and Mac... I might have already used the build your own bundle listing to order a Katy bundle. I couldn't make it through this blog without needing some Katy and Mustard combo in my wardrobe.

It's time for Whitney! I am calling this to be the first to sell out! I mean, it's Odessa in a purple/pink colorway! Odessa was one that gone before I knew what happened and I mean, purple is like my favorite color sooo. yeah! It's Gwen's favorite color too so I wasn't surprised she had to have this! She made an Ellie and Mac Twist it Up Top (affiliate)

Brandi made the Playdate by Pickletoes with Whitney. I love the lettuce hem on the sleeves too! What a great coordinate the Olive Solid DBP is too!

Rosie made the Rad Patterns Rosie in Whitney. They styled it with a petticoat under for a vintage pin-up look that is perfection!

I used Whitney to make this wrap dress with a gathered skirt. It hasn't released yet but keep an eye on the ALD Facebook group for me to post when it does!

So much confidence, Laura is bold in this bright Kennedy DBP fabric! She made the Camisole dress by Wardrobe by Me (aff).

Jess's photo style is perfect to show off the richness of the Kennedy DBP too! She made the Legends top/dress by Sew Straight.

Wow, what colors this fabric has! Gwen made a Kourtney Knot Top from Made for Mermaids using the Kennedy DBP. Her photography captures the vibrancy for sure!

Sarah made an Ellie and Mac Twist It Up Top in the Kennedy DBP - seems perfect for summer fun!

You might have seen some sneaks of the the Holly DBP print in last week's bundle bonanza! It's finally available as yardage! It's gorgeous on it's own, but Jess stepped it up, adding some trim to this Bella Sunshine Designs Sahara dress! (affiliate)

Kendel paired the Holly print with Navy DBP for this nursing-friendly Petal top by Ellie and Mac! Would you guess its it's a nursing top? I'm so distracted by the pretty colors I didn't notice!

DBP is not just leggings and dresses! Sarah made an Annelaine Coffee and Tea Cardigan with Holly DBP! It's super soft and almost squishy so I know this would be really comfortable!

I didn't know what I was going to make with the Holly fabric until it came in the mail! I felt how soft it is and noticed that it's not see through like at all and knew I wanted a maxi dress. Not my usual style but I wanted to wear as much of this fabric as possible. Unfortunately since I didn't know what I was making, I only ordered 2 yards. Since I'm a 2XL that doesn't always go as far as you'd think. but I made it work and managed this gathered skirt, elbow sleeve 5oo4 Sydney dress! (affiliate)

Jan's Harmony fabric With Care Dress is part of the new release and fund raiser by George and Ginger, but did you know that this is an annual fundraiser? For the fundraiser weekend I decided to pull out my With Love dress pattern from last year and make a new one! I love the fit and will wear a dolman much more than a tank! This is the Parker print DBP fabric and it's super soft and (I don't know if this is the technical term) almost squishy thick! It's making me so happy! And it's purple!

Michael got really creative with the Parker fabric! This is the Ellie and Mac Clover Crop Top with self-drafted leggings. So much skill on display! The sewist and the model!

Let's end with this beauty! Florence is such a sweetie and she has the most melodic voice! She made this Ellie and Mac Sweetie Pie Dress in Parker DBP and she's just gorgeous!

Don't forget the solids!

Did you notice how many coordinating solids the sewists used? I know I rely on brushed poly solids bundle to have allllllll the colors on hand for neckbands and color pop on all my projects. Amelia Lane Designs has a huge library of solids to pick up to complete your project! Or grab a bundle for a guaranteed coordinating color!
