Winter Festivities: Goodbye, 2021!

As a difficult year comes to an end, I'm thinking about the energy I want to cultivate in 2022. School keeps me pretty busy, and even doing something I'm passionate about can be draining! Here are some of the commitments I'm bringing with me into the new year. How about you?

1. Get plenty of sleep.

Top: Made for Mermaids Deanna (max chest 51")

Bottoms: Patterns for Pirates Joggers (max hip 58")

Fabric: Red Pointelle Stripes

I usually make myself a pair of Naughty Nice Pajamas each year, but this year I decided to go for separates instead. I added a bottom band to the Deanna and paired it with an easy-fitting pair of shorts for a cute faux-romper look. This pointelle has super 4-way stretch and is almost cool to the touch. Perfect for sleeping in - or just lounging around!

2. Catch up on reading.

Top: Sinclair Tao Raglan (max chest 48.8")

Fabric: Grayson DBP

This is my first time sewing up a Tao. I accidentally bought the pattern without realizing that I was outside of the size range Luckily, it fits Sky well, so it's not a total loss.

This Grayson DBP is super cute and I can't wait to make myself something out of it. The preppy vibes are perfect for curling up with a good book - or three!

3. Make time for joy.

Top: Made for Mermaids Vanessa (max chest 60")

Fabric: Camel thermal knit

Bottoms: Sinclair JJ Joggers (max hip 53.5" )

Fabric: Crosby liverpool

I'm a little bit obsessed with neutrals lately and I was so excited to see this camel thermal knit! It is super soft and squishy but still easy to work with.

At first, I wasn't going to use Crosby for myself, because I already had a pair of JJs in a navy and red plaid (Miles scuba) - but after sewing up JJs for both Sky and my housemate, I had to have a pair myself! I'm hoping I have enough fabric left for a matching Tuva cardigan!

4. Spend time in nature.

Top: Petite Stitchery Janie (max chest 56.75")

Fabric: Rupert rib knit and black thermal (out of stock)

This sew was a little out of my comfort zone to make (I'm not usually a color-blocking person) and a little out of Sky's to wear. However, we both couldn't be more pleased with the results! The high contrast makes it look super stylish but it's still mega soft and cozy.

5. Go exploring.

Top: ALD Not So Cold Shoulder (max chest 63.5")

Fabric: Denim pointelle

(Bottoms are Sinclair JJ Joggers in Miles scuba

Pointelle is perfect for wardrobe building! I have Dream Tees in just about every color! It's easy to wear but looks a little nicer than just a regular t-shirt knit. And you can't go wrong with an NSCS!

6. Bloom where you are planted.

Top: ALD Blade Tank (max chest 63.5")

Fabric: Black plaid jersey

I have had this plaid jersey in my stash for a while, never quite sure what it wanted to be. I absolutely love it as a Blade - it's lightweight with lovely drape. This is my second Blade tank and it went a lot more smoothly than my first. I know all of the binding can be a little intimidating, but if you haven't tried this pattern out, you should!

Happy New Year, everyone!
